Yesterday (6/8/2020), in a small California town near Santa Cruz, beloved Deputy Sheriff Damon Gutzwiller, 38, was ambushed, shot, and killed in the line of duty. He and two other law enforcement officers were responding to a 911 call from a citizen who expressed concern about a suspicious-looking white cargo van with dark-tinted windows and no license plates. The other two men were wounded with non-fatal injuries. Unbeknownst to them, the van was filled with an assortment of guns and homemade explosives.

The van’s driver (and alleged murderer of Gutzwiler) was Steve Carrillo, an active duty Sargent from California’s Travis Air Force Base. He was shot, wounded, arrested and charged with first degree murder.

It turns out that the FBI was already looking for the same white cargo van and its creepy driver for the May 29th murder of a Federal Protective Officer in Oakland, California. That victim, Patrick Underwood, was killed while guarding a building during a so-called “peaceful” protest.

For years, people have been warning us about white cargo vans, which are crisscrossing America. Travelers, especially lone women travelers, should take heed. It’s hard to know which vans are on the level and which ones are carrying dangerous cargo such as guns, cartel members, drugs, and even innocent victims of cartel trafficking. The dangerous ones like highway rest stops and refueling in small towns where victims are more likely to be on low alert.

Be aware of your surroundings!!
