Long shadows paint the land, a marvel of a midnight moon. My Girl Scout’s black and white fur coat runs through them like they don’t exist. What’s real and what’s not? I wish we were programed to understand, and maybe, to ask better questions. Long walks at 3 AM with Scout are hard to beat. Human com-panionship is overrated, but, sometimes, and only sometimes, it might be nice to share. M 4 AM sky stretches shadows until they dissolve in darkness, as the moon retires behind the trees. How many more magic moments in my future? “How many, how many, I wonder, but, I really don’t want to know.”
