Rhea Rose Smith Post passed beyond the veil Oct. 29, 2019. The
youngest child of Carrie and Mike Smith was born May 15, 1929 at their
ranch south of Ashland Montana. She is preceded in death by her
parents, sister Lorrayne, brothers Patrick and Marion and husband
Ernest C. Post. She is survived by four sons, nine
grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.
A graduate of Colstrip High School she held a school record for the
Long Jump which stood from 1946 to 1998. After graduating from the
College of Great Falls she made use of her skills in the employ of the
US Embassy in Panama, businesses and lawyers in Wolf Point, Billings
and Forsyth.
Her greatest pleasures were found in gardening, sewing and playing the
piano, making melody and clothes from tangles of notes and threads.
Her natural abilities were always augmented by her diligence. In
later years, finding misprints and misspellings in newspapers
delighted her.
In her life she found solace in her walk with God and the two traveled
together many miles along the streets and sidewalks of Forsyth. These
walks carried her through many a crisis and conflict as she grappled
with the nature of the divine and the dogma of men.
She passed, kneeling beside her bed, eyes open, without fear. One of
her favorite phrases: “Lemme go, lemme go, I’m dying to get outta
here.”
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00,
Nov. 5 2019 at Grace Bible Church. Inurnment will follow at a later date.
