As, I travel around Montana, from Great Falls, to Libby, to Miles City, one of the biggest concerns I hear is how Montana families, our moms, dads, grandpas and grandmas, are paying way too much for the prescription drugs they need.
As a Montana’s lone voice on the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, I voted Thursday to pass major bipartisan prescription drug pricing reform to lower the costs of prescription drugs for Montanans and save the taxpayers billions of dollars.
Discussing high prescription drug costs with Montana seniors in Helena
It has been one of my top priorities to lower prescription drug costs for Montanans. I worked hard to help craft this major drug pricing reform package, and I’m proud to have voted for it Thursday moving it one step closer to reality.
This legislative package will:
- Save Montanans and taxpayers more than $100 Billion
- Lower Medicare beneficiaries’ out-of-pocket costs by $27 billion
- Lower premiums by $5 billion
- Increase transparency in the complex drug pricing system

I was pleased that the AARP applauded my leadership on reducing prescription drug costs.
As your voice in Washington D.C. I will always fight for what is best for Montana. Lowering prescription drug costs will lift the unnecessary burdens off our working families and our seniors. I am proud to lead this fight on behalf of you and all of Montana.
Best Wishes,
Steve Daines
