What’s New:
Congress is debating what surveillance tools government agencies will have for investigations inside the U.S.
Because these are domestic investigations I am fighting to protect our constitutional right to privacy.
On Monday, I secured Senate Majority Leader McConnell’s commitment to allow the U.S. Senate to vote on my bipartisan provision to protect the browsing, search history and data of Montanans and all Americans.
Why It Matters:
This is about protecting Montanan’s fourth amendment rights and keeping the government from interfering in our lives. I’m glad the Senate will have a chance to stand up for our constitutional rights and pass my bipartisan amendment.
What’s Next:
I will continue to champion for policies that safeguard civil liberties and protect privacy. I look forward to the Senate voting on my bipartisan proposal.
Best Wishes,
Steve Daines
