What’s New:

On Tuesday, I sent a letter with Congressman Greg Gianforte to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue to ensure no price fixing occurred following the fire that occurred at a Tyson Food beef processing plant in Holcomb, Kansas.

Why It Matters:

I heard about the impacts of the fire firsthand from ranchers in Montana while meeting with folks this August. This fire resulted in a significant disruption in the cattle market and corresponded with a drop in prices that is having a substantial impact on the livelihoods of ranches and related business across Montana.

What’s Next:

I will continue to urge Secretary Perdue to conduct a swift and thorough investigation assuring Montana ranchers that no price fixing or market manipulation took place following the fire in Holcomb.

Best Wishes,
