Helena, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte continues to implement a pro-jobs, pro-growth agenda by signing two Montana Comeback priority bills into law; the Entrepreneur Magnet Act and the Corporate Tax Modernization Act.
MTGOP Chairman Don “K” Kaltschmidt issued the following statement after the Governor signed these important bills into law:
“Governor Greg Gianforte won the support of Montanans last November in historic fashion because he is focused on leading Montana’s Comeback and creating better-paying jobs for Montanans,” said Chairman Kaltschmidt. “As a business owner, I know how critical it is that Montana work to implement a pro-job and pro-growth agenda for businesses to thrive and create better opportunities for all who live here. Governor Gianforte continues to lead on this front and Montanans are recognizing the benefits of what a more competitive tax code will mean for Montana families.”
Governor Gianforte’s signing of The Entreprenuer Magnet Act, carried by Senate President Mark Blasdel (R – Kalispell), will exempt qualifying businesses from paying capital gains tax on any sale of employee-owned stock; creating an incentive for businesses looking to relocate and will bring more jobs and opportunities to Montana.
Since becoming law, Senate Bill 376, carried by Senator Greg Hertz (R – Polson), will modernize Montana’s corporate income tax structure by reducing corporate tax calculation from three-factors to two; which provides Montana with the ability to collect increased tax revenues from out-of-state digital retailers that sell products to Montanans rather than only burdening Montana-based businesses.
