Last Thursday, the United States Senate passed four appropriations bills that advance a number of major Montana priorities, including an additional year-long delay from the burdensome electronic logging device (ELD) mandate.

I have heard from farmers and ranchers all across Montana on how this ELD mandate has been an unnecessary hardship on their businesses and Ag haulers.

While this is good news, this fight isn’t over. That’s why I will continue to push for a permanent solution to provide more certainty for Montana’s farmers, ranchers, and livestock haulers. And that’s why I have engaged personally with Transportation Secretary Chao multiple times on this issue. I will continue to work towards a permanent solution to strengthen our rural communities and stop a policy that’s harming Montana agriculture.
