In Waukegan, Illinois, immigration activists are protesting a proposal to rename two middle-schools after Barack and Michelle Obama. Julie Contreras works with a group of activists, which provides shelters for minors, said “Obama failed to deliver on promises he made to help the illegal immigrants’ population during his 8 years as president. He did a disservice to us. He didn’t stop the deportations the way he promised. If you are removing the name ‘Thomas Jefferson’ for being an oppressor, to us, ‘Barack Obama’ is another oppressor. Our families do not want to see that name.”
Contreras went on to say that, among illegals, Obama’s nickname is “Deporter-In-Chief”. Obama is still the highest ranking president with deportations.
