On 1/16/19, Pelosi dis-invited the president from giving his State of the Union Address in the time-honored tradition of speaking to the American people from “her” House.  She flippantly said “let him do it in the Oval Office, send us a copy of it” (she could read it to us!) “or postpone the address, because of security issues”.  Turns-out, she hadn’t bothered to check with any security employees before making those sarcastic comments.  Dept. of Human Services and Secret Service were furious!  She insulted their integrity.  They’d prepared for months and were ready to go, shutdown or no shutdown.  Pelosi’s selfish disdain for the problems of the little people was on full display.   

In the related issue, the next day, Rep. Steve Scalise called for a vote to re-open the government.  But, Democrats, including Pelosi, had other plans.  Although it was only Thursday and they’d just returned from an elaborate week of partying in Puerto Rico as guests of 109 lobbyists, most Democrats had already left town for a long week-end.  Not enough were still there for a vote.  It’s notable, too, that, before that week of partying, they’d been gone for their lengthy Christmas holidays; Pelosi spent hers at a $10,000-per-night Hawaiian resort.  She’s not serious about the border crisis or the government shutdown.  And, unfortunately, “her” Democrats do what she tells them to do.  Meanwhile, other than a trip to Iraq, Pres. Trump remained at the White House in the off-chance that they’d come to the negotiating table about both issues.
Pelosi, sarcastically, offered $1 for the Wall (“barrier”, “infrastructure” or whatever).  Schumer said “we’ll never give him ‘his’ wall”.  And, with the support of Fake News, they’ve tried to convince the America people that “his southern border crisis is manufactured”.    The #1 job of the president is OUR national security.  Their incorrigible anti-Trump stance is to OUR peril; but, thankfully, we have a president, who, unlike them, will not abandon us.  The number of people in the first two “caravans” (euphemism for “invasions”) grew to 7,000 and are, mostly, encamped in Tijuana, Mexico.  Border agents say that more than half of them are seriously diseased; some are unaccompanied children; some are proven criminals; some proudly carry the flag of wherever they’ve come from; some are known drug/human traffickers; some are just plain ineligible to seek “asylum” in the U.S.  Tijuana is overrun with filth.  More caravans are headed to the U.S.; others are forming in Honduras.  Upon arrival at Guatemala/Honduras, Mexico/Guatemala and U.S./Mexico borders, they’ve violently destroyed property, raped women and assaulted border patrollers and militias with rocks and bottles.  If this isn’t a humanitarian and national security crisis, what is?
Yet, Pelosi, Schumer and their minions are MIA.  1/17/19, Pelosi and a congressional delegation of Democrats, were scheduled to take a week-long trip to Brussels, Egypt and Afghanistan.  In other words, Pelosi had no intention of spending another day negotiating anything.  What in the world is she thinking?  The employees, affected by the shutdown, are due for another paycheck while she’ll be gone.  People are dying at our southern border.  People with life-threatening diseases are determined to get into the U.S.  And, even though she is the “leader” of the bigger of the two houses of Congress, she is, obviously, not planning on additional discussions about any of it.  In an attempt to make her think twice, Pres. Trump, wisely, declined the use of the designated military aircraft, which would fly her group overseas.  He hoped to discourage her from further neglect of her duties for still another time-stance.  He didn’t cancel her trip, just the plane … fly commercial or postpone it to preserve secrecy and the group’s security.  If she wants to go somewhere, why not Tijuana?

If people think that a government shutdown is lacking compassion, wait until they see what happens with a serious Declaration of Emergency!    He’s serious about his  responsibility to protect Americans.  As he says, it could all be solved in a 15-minute meeting.  Pelosi and Schumer are busy spending money and not doing their job.  Now that Pelosi controls the House, she’ll snub her nose at Trump on every issue, caring less that it’s on the people’s dime.   It’s not just obscene, it’s “immoral” for them to make light of the issues at hand.  There is one heck of a lot of visual proof that these “invasions” have created a crisis.  Pres. Trump is trying to fix something that should have been fixed thirty years ago.  If it had been, we wouldn’t have lost thousands of legal Americans at the hand of even “one” illegal alien.  It only takes “one”.  Kate Stein and the rest of them would be alive, if not for the “one”.
