In 1994 under Bill Clinton, Congress passed the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act, commonly referred to as the “Assault Weapons Ban”. It prohibited the manufacture or sale for civilian use of certain semi-automatic weapons and magazines that could accommodate 10 rounds or more. Congress authorized it for 10 years. When it was not renewed in 2004, the Act expired.
On March 11, 2021, Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) introduced the “Assault Weapons Ban Act, H.R. 1808” to reinstate the ban, making it a crime to import, sell, manufacture, transfer or possess a semi-automatic assault weapons (SAW) or large capacity ammo-feeding devices (LCAFD). For a bill to pass into law, it must pass with the same verbiage in both House and Senate. Thanks to Republicans holding the line, this one isn’t there yet.
But, Democrats, and their big donors, are no longer even trying to hide their evil intentions … they’re coming for our guns. In his so-called State of the Union Address, Biden made their unpatriotic, unconstitutional plan 100%, crystal clear! It was chilling! And, it’s on-line for the world to see! He bragged about it and Democrats cheered wildly for it! It vilifies every responsible gun owner!
