Convention of States Action Comments by Local (MT) Grass Roots
George Soros is on a warpath against the Convention of States (COS). We’re now over halfway to the benchmark to call an Article V convention, and the closer we get, the stronger the opposition becomes. Recently, we got word that Common Cause (CC) sent out yet another fundraising email to rally opposition to our efforts. In their own words … “Common Cause is sounding the alarm far and wide – bringing this dangerous event into the eyes of the public and using grassroots power to stop it.”
They’re not just sounding the alarm”, they’re sending lobbyists into state legislatures to counter our efforts and are spreading dangerous lies to foster fear in the hearts of the American people. They want the grassroots to reject the Constitution and view Article V as a “secret and sinister plot” that will “gut the First Amendment.” Why are they afraid of COS? Because when we get 34 states to pass our legislation, a convention will be called where the states can propose amendments to: (1) get the federal government out of our healthcare system; (2) impose term limits on Congress; (3) balance the budget; (4) take back our education systems; and (5) limit federal power.
Congress won’t take these actions. But a COS can. The Left understands that we could do away with Obamacare without Congress … and now they’re on the war path for COS.
