HELENA, Mont. – Attorney General Austin Knudsen attended a virtual forum, entitled “President Biden’s Cancellation of the Keystone XL Pipeline and American Jobs,” this afternoon regarding the cancellation of the Keystone XL Pipeline, hosted by Representative David B. McKinley (R-WV), Republican Leader for the Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

During the forum, Attorney General Knudsen used the national platform to explain the unconstitutionality of President Biden’s executive action to kill the project and continue fighting for Made in America energy, Montana jobs, and our Montana way of life.

MTGOP Chairman Don “K” Kaltschmidt released the following statement in response:

“The Keystone XL pipeline is the safest, most environmentally responsible way to transport oil and will create jobs, strengthen our national security, and provide millions in critical annual tax revenue to the Montana communities that need it most – now that’s infrastructure,” said MTGOP Chairman Don “K” Kaltschmidt. “Instead of using their partisan infrastructure bill to appease radical environmentalists, Democrats in Washington should invest in projects that benefit hardworking Americans across the country and revamp the Keystone XL pipeline. Montanans are well-represented by Attorney General Knudsen, as he continues to do all he can to block President Biden’s unilateral, hyperpartisan decision to cancel Keystone XL to the detriment of Montanans.”

Background:

Within hours of the 46th President assuming office, President Biden signed an executive order to revoke the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline.

In Montana, the Keystone XL pipeline has had bipartisan support for years because it would create good-paying Montana jobs and generate millions in annual local tax revenue for Montana’s rural communities and schools. But on day one, President Biden chose radical environmentalists over hardworking Montanans and blue-collar workers.

Attorney General Austin Knudsen is co-leading a 21-state lawsuit to block Biden’s unlawful, unconstitutional decision to overturn an act of Congress via executive order by revoking the Keystone XL construction permit.
